-Travel to Iran
If you are travelling to Iran, you must take a COVID‑19 PCR test and complete the self‑declaration form before departure.
-Travel eligibility
Tourist or Visit visas will not be issued on arrival.
-Passengers originating from or having visited the below countries within the past 14 days are not permitted to enter Iran:
Botswana
Brazil
India
Lesotho
Malawi
Mozambique
Nepal
South Africa
Uruguay
Zambia
Zimbabwe
This does not apply to representatives of international organisations as well as diplomats and government officials on duty, provided that such passengers hold a permit letter issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the IR of Iran in addition to the COVID‑19 PCR test.
-COVID‑19 testing requirements
Incoming passengers (over 8 years old) are required to hold a medical certificate with a negative COVID‑19 RT‑PCR test result. The test must have been taken at most 96 hours from the first embarkation point. The certificate must be in English, otherwise it must be certified by an embassy or consulate of the IR of Iran.
The COVID‑19 PCR test is not required for passengers coming from or transiting through European countries if they provide proof of full vaccination against COVID‑19. People are considered fully vaccinated 15 days after the second dose in a two‑dose series vaccine.
Passengers will be screened on arrival and if they show symptoms of COVID‑19, they will be retested at their cost (equivalent of IRR 2,500,000). Until the test result is known, foreign nationals will be quarantined in places provided by the Ministry of Health and Iranian nationals will have to self‑isolate at home.
-All passengers (over 8 years old) will be retested on arrival if they are coming from or have transited with a stay of more than 4 hours through these countries:
Argentina
Bolivia
Cape Verde
Chile
Colombia
Costa Rica
Ecuador
Egypt
Lithuania
Malaysia
Maldives
Mongolia
Namibia
Paraguay
Peru
Seychelles
Sri Lanka
Sudan
Syria
Tanzania
Trinidad
Tunisia
All passengers arriving in Tehran will undergo thermal screening, and suspected COVID‑19 cases will be isolated, regardless of their negative test result certificate.
-Exemptions
Iranian nationals not holding a negative test result can be accepted with a form of indemnity (FOI). They will undergo a COVID‑19 PCR test on arrival and will be isolated in IBIS Hotel for 48 hours until the test result is received. Passengers must cover the costs of the test and hotel stay.
-Required forms
Effective 5 August 2020, all passengers regardless of point of origin or nationality must complete the COVID‑19 screening self‑declaration form, which will be available on board, and present it to the health representatives on arrival.
-Quarantine
Iranian nationals must complete an indemnity form and quarantine themselves at the specified address (preferably their own home) for 14 days. Non Iranian nationals will be quarantined at the Ministry of Health assigned IBIS International Airport Hotel for 14 days.
-Other information
All costs for the COVID‑19 PCR test (around USD 17) as well as hotel quarantine charges (around USD 30 per night) will be at the passenger’s expense.
